Abstract Streptococcal infection caused by Streptococcus iniae is the most common Gram positive infection affecting cultured freshwater fish. Streptococcal infection causes high economic losses in fish production and is zoonotic to human. This work was planed to determine the effective antibiotics against Streptococcus iniae followed by a trial for treatment of experimentally infected Oreochromis niloticus. The obtained results revealed that Florfenicol and norfloxacin are the most effective antibiotics against Streptococcus iniae at a dose of 50 and 100 mg / Kg. B. W. orally once daily for 7 days. With vigilance oxytetracycline at a dose of 100 mg / Kg. B. W. orally once daily for 7 days can be used in treatment of such infection. |
