Abstract

Internship program is an opportunity for the new graduate to make the transition from student to staff nurse through a supervised work experience with a gradual increase in responsibility . This program is an approach used in nursing to bridge the gap between the classroom and real practice
The clinical learning environment has been defined as an interactive network of forces within the clinical setting which influence the nurse interns clinical learning outcome .It encompasses all that surrounds the nurse interns , the clinical setting , the staff , the patient and the nurse preceptor . It is assumed that a good learning environment will enhance nurse intern learning . The importance of establishing and challenges of maintaining , appropriate and effective learning environments continues to be a high priority for the education provider and the health service in all its manifestations
Clinical competence is acquired in hospitals through clinical placements , which provide a place experience and exposure to a variety of specialties . As well as helping nurse interns achieve clinical competence , clinical placements play a vital role in developing nurse interns’ professional skills and attitudes where nurse interns become acquainted with healthcare organizations through practice rotations in which they apply theoretical and skill learning and gain a preview of potential future work environments.
