Abstract Two field experiments were conducted at a private vegetable farm at Sahragt El-Soghra near El-Mansoura, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt during 2010 and 2011 late summer seasons, on sweet pepper plants ”Madir” hybrid. The conducted research aimed to study the role of some bio-stimulants (i.e., Seaweed extract and Humic acid complex) and some anti-stressors (i.e., Glycinbetaine, Spermiden, Proline, Amino acids combination, Glutathione, Citric acid and Mannitol) plus the check treatment and their interactions as foliar applications to alleviate the adverse effects of natural high temperature stress (heat stress), and its related oxidative one. The obtained results showed that: 1- Foliar application treatments (bio-stimulants and anti-stressors) ameliorated heat stress effects and significantly enhanced vegetative growth, leaf contents of (minerals, photo-synthetic pigments, bio-constituents, enzyme activities and phytohormons) as well as yield and fruits quality parameters in both seasons. 2- The first bio-stimulant (Seaweed extract) superior the second one (Humic acid complex) in most tested parameters. Concerning anti-stressors, glycinebetaine recorded the highest values of the most parameters of the study followed by spermiden. 3- The interaction between seaweed extract with glycinebetaine or spermiden recorded the highest values compared with other ones, while plants sprayed with humic acid complex only gave the lowest values in both seasons. Key words: Sweet pepper – Heat stress – Seaweeds extract – Humic acid complex – Glycinebetaine – Spermiden. |
