Abstract

The investigated area is located in the northeastern part of the Western Desert of Egypt, between latitudes 30°15’ and 30°38’N and longitudes 30°02’and 30°30’E.The main purpose of this study is to develop a sophisticated groundwater flow model that can be used to evaluate the impact of groundwater pumping,and other hydrologic changes on groundwater levels in Wadi El-Natrun area. As groundwater modeling is the only available tool that can internally interpret such data and evaluate the management options, development of groundwater models is essential to fulfilling the monitoring and technical goals to develop the area.Also the present work deals with the study of the ionic concentrations of the major constituents to give information about the chemical ion distribution and evaluate the suitability of groundwater for different purposes. The stable isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen were analyzed and interpreted to identify the recharge sources and the possible upward leakage from deep aquifers.The study area can be divided into two geomorophic units. These units are: old alluvial plain and structural plain.
