Abstract Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L) has become one ofthe main aquaculture species in many countries. The total globalproduction was over 3 million tons in 2010 with Chinaaccounting for over half of that production (FAO, 2010).The global success of tilapia production due to, theirtolerance to poor water quality and the fact that they can feed ona wide range of food includes planktonic, algae (Lutz et al., 2003). Tilapia is an aquatic animal that can be farmed as easilyand economically, and with the same broad market appeal, aschickens (Pullin, 1984). In addition, it reaches the marketablesize of 500 to 600g within six months therefore, it is considered the most important and cheapest source of animal protein intropical and sub tropical countries that suffer from lack of animalprotein (Lovshin and Dasilva, 1975). |
