Abstract The current study investigated the effect of using a computer-assisted program based on language games on developing primary stage students’ acquisition of English vocabulary. The current study has two groups pretest-posttest control/experimental group design. A group of seventy-four primary five students were randomly selected from one of Al Fayoum governmental experimental language schools, namely Azza Zidan language school [thirty-seven students in the experimental group and thirty-seven students in the control group]. All students’ age ranged from eleven to twelve years old. To determine the most important vocabulary skills to be developed through the computer-assisted program based on language games was designed and validated by a jury of specialists. Based on the vocabulary skills, a pre-post vocabulary test was developed and used. The computer-assisted program was taught in the first semester of the academic year 2012-2013. The study results showed evidence that the computer-assisted program based on language games had a positive effect on developing the experimental group students’ acquisition of English vocabulary.
