Abstract Sildenafil non-responders are a major challenge to all urologists. Drugs that improve the endothelial function are recommended for sildenafil combination. So this study aimed to compare between the clinical effects of atorvastatin and vitamin E on patients with erectile dysfunction (ED) initially irresponsive to sildenafil with investigation to the underlying mechanisms Subjects and Methods: Sixty patients were randomly divided into three groups group one (control group) received placebo capsules, group two received atorvastatin 80 mg daily, and group three received vitamin E 400 IU daily Patients were examined both before and after six weeks for these biochemical tests; superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPO), C-reactive protein (CRP), interlukin-6 (IL-6), nitric oxide (NO), and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and for erectile function tests; international index of erectile function-5 (IIEF-5) scores, rigiscan, and duplex ultrasound. |
