Abstract The purpose of this study was to explore consumer desire for nutritional information in restaurants, to determine which nutritional information exactly they want. Also demonstrate the format and method of presenting information in restaurants based on customers’ views. As In Egypt, there is no legislation exists requiring restaurants to provide nutritional information for menu items, and there is not an established best practice for determining to what extent nutrition information should appear on the menu. A convenience sample of 300 restaurants patrons was surveyed regarding their desire toward nutritional information in restaurants and its effect on them. The findings were that there was a significant desire from restaurants patrons toward the provision of nutritional information in menus, and if it was presented they would use it in selecting healthier items. Restaurants patrons also demonstrate which method and style of displaying nutritional information. |
