Abstract Ten cases with anterior mandibular fractures were treatment by open reduction and internal fixation using three dimensional miniplate and mini screws. Evaluation of all patients was performed as follows: - History, including present history of the trauma and past medical history. - Clinical examination included both general and local examinations. - Radiographic examination using intra-oral and extra-oral films. For all cases, - Upper and lower arch bars or eyeleds were applied. Followed by exposure of the fracture line using sulcus incision. - Temporary IMF was done followed by ORIF using 3D miniplates and screws then releasing of IMF. Postoperative follow up was done both clinically and radiographically to evaluate: • Early postoperative complications as pain, infection, oedema efficiency of reduction, and stability of the screws. • Late postoperative complications as improper realignment teeth injury, nerve injury, and malocclusion. • The results of this study proved that the early postoperative period went with no to mild pain, limited oedema and also efficient postoperative reduction with good stability of the fracture segments. • The late postoperative follow up showed good gingival condition, proper realignment of bony segment no teeth damage, no nerve injuries, no step deformities and good occlusion. The radiographic findings revealed complete bony union three months after operation. |
