المستخلص

This research studies the patterns of evaluating the performance of personnel to improve the performance of environmental management of Ain Shams University hospitals through an effective and valid system to evaluate the performance of personnel; so, the performance evaluation process is an important tool of individuals’ tools in the organizations in general. They are not considered as if they providing objective and fair basis for decisions relating to the personnel such as decisions promotion or transfer but they can also be used to urge them to exert their utmost efforts and dedication to work as well as reveal the strengths or weaknesses of the personnel and then allow the optimal utilization of the available human energies and estimate the training needs on objective bases.
The importance of evaluation process and its effects is not only restricted to the subordinates but it also extends to the directors. It arranges positive effects on the efficiency of directors and supervisors where it develops their ability to analyze and assessment, and helps them to understand their subordinates and choosing the appropriate leadership methods. All of which affects the effectiveness and efficiency of the administrative system as a whole and raises the level of services performance for citizens.
