Abstract T he aim of this study was to determine the level of Fetuin-A in patients with ischaemic heart disease & to find out any possible correlation between its level & evidence of coronary calcification. The study included 30 patients (Group A) complaining of chronic stable angina, & 15 healthy individuals as a control group (Group B) similar to group Ain age, sex & body mass index. Group A patients were subjected to full clinical history, clinical examination, ECG, Coronary angiography and laboratory investigations (Kidney function test, liver function tests, lipid profile, serum calcium and phosphorus levels, RBS and Fetuin-A level). Meanwhile the control group subjects were subjected to measuring serum Fetuin-A level only. I- The present study showed that patients with CAD had lower Fetuin A levels. II- Studying the correlation between Fetuin-A level and each of the laboratory investigations it was noted that there was a significant negative correlation with serum creatinine and significant positive correlation with eGFR by Crockcroft-Gault equation. Our results showed insignificant difference between age, sex and BMI of patients. Meanwhile, as regards the laboratory investigations there was significant difference between patients with & without coronary calcifications with significant higher serum creatinine, lowered eGFR by Crockcroft-Gault equation, lowered TG level and lowered Fetuin-A level in the calcification group. |
