The study aimed to identify the developmental role of the University in light of the requirements of the knowledge society and come to formulate a proposal to upgrade the development role of the University to keep pace with explosion of knowledge and technology of the times and the researcher used the descriptive method for the appropriateness of the nature of the study changing with the use of certain tools such as questionnaires conducted by the researcher prepared and applied to a sample of students from theoretical colleges and practical Assiut University.
The study reached several conclusions, including:
-The consensus of the total sample for the study of the importance of the developmental role of the University and the importance of that role included through the functions of the University to keep pace with the era of knowledge.
-The consensus of the total sample for the study not to check the developmental role of the University in the form desired all colleges practical and theoretical.
-The consensus of the total sample for the study on the importance of the dimension of the field of learning in the era of knowledge so as to keep pace with changes in this day and age to improve the developmental role of the University followed by the field of scientific research and the development of the environment and community service.
-The consensus of the total sample for the study on the shortcomings of the job performance of the University, a third development environment, community service and that are given attention first to the field of Education and scientific research.
In conclusion, the researcher studied by formulating a proposal to upgrade the developmental role of the University to keep up with changes in the modern era of explosion cognitive this perception is based on the philosophy and foundations and axes, especially in the field of Education – the field of scientific research and the development of the environment and community service.
