Abstract Today women are experiencing menopause that is not a disease, but rather a natural transition that does not necessarily require drugs.Menopausal women are faced with the challenge of managing a barrage of symptoms, both physiological and psychological, as well as the increased risk of age-related disease, particularly heart disease, osteoporosis and xerostomia. Xerostomia is a common complaint among elderly individuals especially in post-menopausal women. The exact mechanisms that mediate sensation of xerostomia in post-menopausal women have not been firmly established. The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship of unstimulated whole saliva cortisol and chromogranin A levels withxerostomia in post-menopausal women. |
