Abstract Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of using a single lag screw combined with single miniplate in the management of anterior mandibular fractures and to compare this method with the traditional application of double miniplates Materials and methods: This study was conducted on twenty adult patients suffering from anterior mandibular fracture, their ages ranged from 20 year to 55 year .all patients were examined clinically and radiographically and prepared to be treated with ORIF through transoral incision under general anesthesia. Patients were divided randomly into two equal groups: - Group I This group included ten patients in whom fractures were fixed with singlelag screw combined with single titanium miniplate, Group II This group included ten patients in whom, fractures were fixed using double titanium miniplates. The patients evaluated clinically for wound healing, infection, occlusion and nerve affection. Radiographic evaluation was done, using CT scan immediately post-operative, one month, three months and six months after surgery. |
