Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the role of anti-MCV antibodies in diagnosis of RA and correlate anti-MCV with other markers of disease activity.
The study was carried out on 75 individuals, categorized as follow:
1-Group l: included 45 patients were diagnosed as RA.
2-Group II: included 15 patients were diagnosed as osteoarthritis disease.
3- Group III: (control group) included 15 apparently healthy persons.
All the patients in the study were chosen from outpatient clinic of Rheumatology Department in Minia University Hospital.
All participants were undergoing careful history taking, clinical examinations and laboratory investigations including:
l- Routine laboratory investigations:
1-Complete blood picture (CBC).
2-Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)
3-C-reactive protein (CRP).
4-Rheumatoid factor (RF).
II-Special laboratory investigations:
1-A¬¬nti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (Anti-CCP) antibodies by ELISA.
2-Anti-mutated citrullinated vimentine (Anti-MCV) antibodies by ELISA.
Results of different groups were compared with each other and were summarized as follows:
• There were no significant differences in Hb level, TLC, platelet count and CRP when comparing the three groups with each other (P value = 0.486-0.156 - 0.320 and 0.145 respectively).
• There were high statistical significant differences when comparing group II and Group III with group I regarding ESR (P value < 0.001).
• When comparing group I with both group II and III there was significant difference between them regarding serum level of anti-CCP and anti-MCV (P-values < 0.001).
