For mothers: CBC
For neonates: CBC, renal function, liver function, blood film and
measuring serum erythropoietin level.
Results we found the EPO was high in patients (48.73 ± 9.73)
compared to controls (40.80 ± 4.22) with no statistical significant
difference, except when the Hb level decreased to less than 9gm/dl.
We also found that nRBCs were high in patients (11.97 ± 1.90)
compared to controls(7.47 ± 1.54) with no statistical significant
difference in mild cases but a significant difference was present in goup
II with Hb level less than 9 gm/dl.
