Abstract following: Group I: 35 full term neonates (mothers’ Hb 9-11mg/dl Group 35 full term neonates (mothers’ Hb 9mg/dl).Group III: 30 full term neonates of non-anemic mother (mothers’ Hb>11mg/dl) as controls All these cases were subjected to ;1. Full history,. full examinations,. Laboratory investigations; For mothers: CBC For neonates: CBC, renal function, liver function, blood film and measuring serum erythropoietin level. Results we found the EPO was high in patients (48.73 ± 9.73) compared to controls (40.80 ± 4.22) with no statistical significant difference, except when the Hb level decreased to less than 9gm/dl. We also found that nRBCs were high in patients (11.97 ± 1.90) compared to controls(7.47 ± 1.54) with no statistical significant difference in mild cases but a significant difference was present in goup II with Hb level less than 9 gm/dl. |
