Abstract
The brackish water shallow lakes lying at the north- ern periphery of the Nile Delta, namely; Lake Menzalah,L. Burollus, L. Edku and L. Mariut form the most important fishery grounds in Egypt, since they yield collectively about 50-60% of the total fish catch of the country (Fishery statistical report, 1982).
