Abstract The presented thesis comprises three chapters. the first chapter is the introduction, which includes a survey of the literature reports on the biological applications and importance of trehalose and its analogues. Oligosaccharide synthetic methods are also reviewed with some emphasis on the most common strategies employed in coupling reactions and protective group manipulations. moreover, some chemical modifications of trehalose are cited. the second chapter is devoted to a discussion of the original work of the candidate. the first part of chapter 2 deals with the synthesis of 2, 3, 6 tri O benzoyl D glucopyranosyl 2, 3, 4, 6 tetra Obenzoyl D glucopyranoside. |
