Abstract While the tourism industry is abundant in SMEs, with the recognition of the growing significance of small and medium tourism enterprises (SMTEs), the knowledge of their social and environmental, particularly in Egypt, has remained unexplored and amorphous. This study therefore investigates CSR from the perspective of SMEs in Egypt. The overall purpose of this study is to further understand the CSR engagement of small and medium tourism enterprises. The basic aspects of investigation were CSR definitions, dimensions, SMEs importance and characteristics, the types of socially responsible activities of SMTEs, motivation for and benefits from engaging in CSR, the influence of managerial characteristics and SMEs characteristics on attitude toward CSR and adopting CSR and the challenges faced. |
