Abstract

An antibiotic adverse effect is an unwanted reaction that occurs in addition to the desirable therapeutic action of the antibiotic. When used appropriately, antibiotics are relatively safe with very few side effects. However, like any drug, antibiotic adverse effects can occur and may interfere with the patient’s ability to tolerate and finish the course of medication.
The present work was conducted to throw light on adverse effects of tilmicosin on cardiac profile and immune-pharmacological effects of levofloxacin on the cellular and humoral responses in rabbits. Moreover, the genotoxic effect on leukocytes. In addition to explore the possible protective effect of L-carnitine and Ginseng extract on tilmicosin and levofloxacin adverse effects respectively.
In this study, a total of thirty (30) male adult New Zealand white rabbits of 2-3 months old and weighing about 1.5-2kg were divided into six equal groups, 5 rabbits each as follows:
The First group (Non- treated, Control group):
Rabbits in this group received no medication and remained as control group.
