The most
definitive geophysical investigation in the Nile Delta concession was carried out in 1965 by the International Egyptian Oil Company (IEOC). This investigation includes a gravimetric surveys, which yielded a general structural picture in good agreement with both of the available seismic results and aeromagnetic maps.
Moreover, many authors. [e.g. El-Shazly (1974), Salim (1976), El-Nahase (1978), El-Ibiary (1983)] had performed geophysical studies to obtain the most probable picture of the
subsurface
structural
distribution. In general, the results of these studies
indicate the presence of two regional sets of positive or negative structural anomalies having the general trends that range from WNW-ESE to E-W.
