Abstract GaAs semiconductor electrodes are of interest in photoelectrochemical systems (FSC) because of the suall band gap (1.4 eV) which makes it suitable for solar energy conversion when employed in FC cells. However, their chemical instability during charge transfer processes occuring at the electrode-electrolyte interface limite its application. The present work includes: a) Potentiostatic current-potential characteristics of single crystal and polycrystalline GaAs electrodes in aqueous Na,504 solutions at different pH values (2 pH < 12) in the potential range -2.00 in the dark and under illumination at sweep rate of 50 ava-1 b) The effect of addition of redox-systems such as [0 (CN)3-/4- as well as the effect of porphyrin dyes on the photocurrent-potential profiles. c) The current-potential profiles in Glycol-tartaric +2.0 V acid solutions in absence and presence of redox couples or dyes. |
