Abstract

This study investigate the role of she camel milk in comparison with buffalo milk in prevention and control of diabetic nephropathy in STZ-induced diabetic rats.
Throuth using eighty male albino rats divided into four groups with twenty rats in each group; normal control group ,diabetic control group, diabetic treated with she camel milk at dose of 33ml/Kg b.w and diabetic treated with buffalo milk at dose of 33ml/kg b.w.
The blood was drawn from the lateral tail vein of rats portable for measurement of blood glucose every week by glucometer (Bionime GM300). The blood sample was collected by retro-orbital puncture under mild ether anesthesia from rats every week for measurement serum albumin and serum creatinine. Urine sample were collected at the 4th for determination of microalbumin. The kidney samples were collected and kept in 10% formalin for histopathological examination, to evaluate the histopathological changes of kidney in the different animals groups, PAS stain were used. Apart of Kidney samples were collected and kept in epindorffs and kept frozen at -80ᵒC until used for PCR
This study revealed the following results:
She camel milk significantly increases body weight , decreases blood glucose, decreases serum creatinine, increases serum albumin,decreases urine microalbumin, reduces mRNA expression of IL-6, increases the mRNA expression of IL-10, reduces the deposition of Periodic acid Schiff (PAS)-positive materials in the glomeruli, glomerular scleosis grade, glomerular area and tuft area as compared with diabetic group.The improvement in camel milk group more than that of buffalo milk group .
In conclusion, this study indicated a new importance of she camel milk and new strategy for prevention of diabetic nephropathy and advise by daily consumption of camel milk may be prevent many disease beside the diabetes mellitus and diabetic nephropathy and other complications because of its hypoglycemic effect and anti inflammatory effect .
