المستخلص
Destructive effects are stayed on cities and people by wars, that lead to erase the
features of their cultures which raised throughout ages; spread the culture of fear,
flight and refuge which hinder the continuity of developing planners of these cities
because all their incomes are used in financing wars. There is noticed lack of
protective strategies from wars which affect all fields such as environmental, social,
culture, Architectural and Urban, and buildings which have valuable heritage.
The research aim to analysis the principles of post- wars reconstruction for Arabic
cities as an introduction to make a strategy of rehabilitation and rebuilding the
destructive cities because of wars or armed struggles in Arabic world. The study, also,
shows the kinds of wars and their effects on Architecture and Urbanization of Cities
and societies. It demonstrates the analysis of some experiments of reconstruction in
world, especially in Arabic World, to display their advantages and disadvantages that
help us to know the important principles and types of post war reconstruction.
The research consists of an introduction and three chapters:
The first chapter: Wars and their effects on cities and Urbanization:
This chapter demonstrates the concept of wars as one of disasters which happen to
cities, and their different classifications according to the periods of wars, the ways of
practicing …. ect. It, also, shows the factors which affect wars’ nature and results, as
an introduction to know wars’ effect on societies, Architecture and Urbanization of
Cities.
Chapter Tow: An analysis of some experiments on post-wars reconstruction for
cities in world and Arabic World:
This chapter deals with the analysis and the study of some experiments on post wars
reconstruction in world and Arabic world; it, also, shows the study of standards and
the steps of each experiment to demonstrate the main reasons of its success or its
unsuccess.
Chapter Three: The principles and types of post- wars reconstruction for Arabic
Cities: This chapter sheds light on the principles of post- war reconstruction, as an
introduction to make a strategy of rehabilitation and rebuilding the destructive cities
because of wars or armed struggles in Arabic world.
The research has reached that destruction and wreckage are not the only effects of
wars on cities, but also they make imbalance in rebuilding movement and civilized
development; it, also, has reached that post war reconstruction depends on national
and international human power and available natural incomes of these cities; that
require protection of their Architectural and Urban heritage, and document and
rebuilding of their heritage. The research has recommended establishing Arabic
institution which present scientific, technical and consultive support in the field of
post-wars Architecture and Urbanization cities; include the protective engineering of
wars as principle subject in architectural and engineering education, and ration the
permission of building to achieve safety, security and protection at future wars’ time.
