Abstract The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of feeding dry fat (DF) during late pregnancy (three months before parturition) and postpartum period (six months after parturition) for Egyptian buffaloes on nutrients digestibility, birth weight of their offspring, milk yield and its composition, some blood constituents,rumen activity and economic efficiency. First experiment, twelve female buffaloes (2-4 lactation seasons) in late pregnancy period were used to carry out this experiment and divided into three equal groups.The first animals group fed concentrate feed mixture (CFM), berseem hay and rice straw as a control ration without supplementation (DF0),while the other experimental groups (DF1 and DF2) fed control ration supplemented with DF levels at 2 and 4% (based on DM intake). |
