Abstract

In fabrication or repair of equipment, tests are used to determine the quality and soundness of the welds. Many different tests have been designed for specific faults. The type of test used depends upon the requirement of the welds and the availability of testing equipment. The Non¬Destructive testing (NDT) is among the most commonly used tests. The main aim of this report is to construct an expert system for a non-destructive testing for pipelines. The system is constructed by the aid of Exsys CORVID. The study covers a radiography test (RT) as a typeofN DT tests. The system components are knowledge base, working strategy, Inference engine and user interface to build up the system The constructed expert system is used for process the defects parameters in radiography film to accept or reject the welding joints in a pipe line according to American Petroleum Institute (API) code.
