Abstract The present investigation was carried out to follow up the population fluctuations of the white date palm scale insect, P. blanchardii (Targioni-Tozzetti) infesting date palm trees under the conditions of Esna district, Luxor Governorate, A.R. of Egypt through the two successive years (2010/2011 and 2011/2012). The obtained results of these studies could be summarized as the follows: 1- Ecological studies: Ecological aspects were carried out at Esna district, Luxor Governorate were recorded during the two successive years (2010/2011 and 2011/2012). Results indicated the following: 1.1- Population fluctuations of P. blanchardii: 1.1.1- The first year (2010/2011): 1.1.1.1- Immature stages of P. blanchardii: The study of the seasonal fluctuation of first instar nymphs was observed. The peaks of 1st instar nymphs were recorded in the beginning of October, mid-November, mid-April and mid-June. While, the second instar nymphs, four peaks were recorded in mid- October, beginning of December, beginning of May and beginning of July. |
