Abstract

This study was conducted on 45 Does of Balady breed in the late stage of pregnancy. at the period from February 2013 to September 2014 .clinical and ultrasonographic examination, serum and urine analysis, liver biopsy and histopathological examination were conducted in all animals under investigation.
Liver of each animal was examined at the right side on each intercostal space starting cranially from 6thintercostal space to 12thintercostal space using 3.5 MHz convex probe. Normal liver tissue appeared as gray numerous weak echoes homogenously distributed. The portal vein appeared with an echogenic wall while the hepatic vein had a less echogenic one. The gall bladder was examined in standing position from the right side at 9th and/or 10th intercostal spaces where, it was appeared as elongated oval or circular shape with anechoic content representing the bile with smooth and thin echogenic wall.
Liver samples were taken from the liver of all animals under investigation a needle semi-automatic biopsy needle under guide of ultrasound. Sampling processes had no internal bleeding or adverse effect to any animal after the biopsy operation.where, animals examined clinically and ultrasonographically for 24 hours.
The macroscopic picture of liver biopsies is completely different related to the fat contents. In cases of mild fatty liver, the picture is not greatly different from the normal liver biopsy, while biopsies of severe fatty livers are completely different, characterized by yellow color, loss of consistency, friable and having a greasy texture.
After examination, the animals were divided into three groups.
