There are some alternative conceptions of some scientific terms, and therefore, the present study attempted revealing the alternative conceptions of those scientific terms as well as correcting them throughout a Program based on e-learning, and assessing its effectiveness in developing attitude towards self-learning.
Research Tools & Materials: The study employed the following tools and materials that were prepared and designed by the researcher:
1. A list of those concepts having alternative conceptions in a unit entitled, ’Earth and Universe’ studied by preparatory-one students;
2. A Program based on e-learning for the ’Earth and Universe’ unit in the preparatory-one course, and which includes an online educational website;
3. A student’s guiding handbook for learning topics of the ’Earth and Universe’ unit using a program based on e-learning;
4. Alternative conceptions test for the concepts included in the ’Earth and Universe’ unit in the preparatory-one science course;
5. Self-Learning Attitude Scale.
Results: Study results indicate the effectiveness of a Program based on e-learning in correcting alternative conceptions of some scientific concepts, and also in developing attitude towards self-learning for preparatory-stage pupils.
