Abstract The aim of this study was to develop novel, simple and convenient methods for the synthesis of some radiopharmaceutical compounds currently used in nuclear medicine for diagnosis and therapeutic treatment of human diseases. A further aim was to apply HPLC and TLC techniques for electrophilic substitution reaction for iodination of Asp ,SHA and DEAS. It also extended to study radio labeling of SHA with techentium99m. The thesis deals with the chemistry of techentium99m and radioiodine, the general methods of labeling, methods of production and applications frequently used in nuclear medicine (i.e. 99mTc 123I, 125I and 131I). The most common techniques used in the preparation of radioiodinated compounds via direct electrophilic radioiodination reactions are included. The electrophilic or oxidative radioiodination reactions commonly used to introduce radioactive iodine to replace hydrogen ion in the organic compound are reviewed. The purification and quality control tests e.g. chemical purity, radionuclide purity, radiochemical purity, sterility, and a pyrogenicity of the radioiodinated compounds used for diagnosis and therapeutic treatment of human diseases are also included. |
