Abstract

Air pollution is of increasing global concern because of its great impacts on the environment, climate and public health. Pollutants are also classified according to its nature into PM and gaseous. PM has been found to be the major component of air pollution that has the most deleterious effects on human health especially PM2.5. Air pollution is a major environmental health problem affecting everyone in developed and developing countries alike. The high risk group includes extreme of age, pre-existing diseases especially respiratory and CVD, pregnancy, and low socio economic status.Air pollutants can affect different organs and systems including nervous system, CVD, respiratory system, urinary system, digestive system, reproductive health and autoimmunity.Air pollution contributes to the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, supported by reliable evidence of multiple mechanisms and should be considered as one of multiple major modifiable risk factors in the CVD prevention and management.Management of air pollution induced CVD can be divided into:1.Community-level interventions: The focus of prevention is improvement ambient air quality2. Interventions Directed to Individuals: preventive action at the individual level remain costly, limited and inefficient and target more likely only acute effects.
