Abstract

A total number of 120 pregnant women from patient admitted to Women’s health center, Assiut University Hospital, 60 Cases represented our preeclampsia group with gestational age>20weeks and the other 60 cases represented control group.
Inclusion Criteria;
1. Gestational age>20weeks.
2. Diagnosed preeclampsia for the 1st time.
3. No history of medical disorder.
Exclusion Criteria ;
1. Gestational age<20weeks.
2. Patient known to have APS, APLA Or SLE.
3. Patients who had history of recurrent preeclampsia.
4. patient having chronic hypertension superimposed by preeclampsia, with renal failure or history of thromboembolic manifestation.
Preeclampsia was defined as blood pressure (BP) of at least 140/90 mmHg after 20 weeks gestation on at least two occasions 6 hours apart when the absence of gestational trophoblastic disease or multiple pregnancies was confirmed by ultrasonografic examination, with proteinuria more than 0.3 g per 24 hours and edema < 1+ after bed rest. Blood was measured with a calibrated aneroid manometer in the spine position after five minutes rest. Absolute diastolic blood pressure of ≥ 110 mmHg and proteinuria (≥ 2+ (100mg/dL) on a chateterized specimen was diagnostic for severe preeclampsia at admission.
Blood samples were taken from the case after her admission then refered it to laboratory to measure lupus anti coagulant and anti cardiolipin ABs IgG, IgM. All samples were tested in the same laboratory by the same physichian.
Then umbilical and uterine artery Doppler study was done to those preeclampwith positive antiphospholipid antibodies.
We find that the incidence of APLA increased with the presence of severe preeclampsia (28.3%), with significant statistical differences in APLA in cases of severe preeclampsia.
Also we find that there was raised umbilical and uterine artery doppler indices in preeclamptic pregnant women with positive APLA.
