Abstract This study aimed for molecular identification of Aspergillus species isolated from 30 apparently healthy and 30 diseased animals as cattle, horses, donkeys, sheep and goats, 30 chicken suffered from respiratory disorders and from the environment surrounding the animals including 20 air and 20 soil samples. The isolates were identified phenotypically and genotypically using RFLP – PCR and DNA sequencing. Three swabs were taken from each animal from nose, eye and ear, a specimen from lung tissue of each chicken, air samples were taken by settlement plate method and soil samples were collected from soil polluted with animal wastes were cultured on sabouraud’s dextrose agar medium for further identification according to macro and micro - morphological characters. Phenotypic methods revealed that about 150 Aspergillus isolates were obtained including 57 isolates from diseased animals (18 isolates from cattle, 27 from horses and donkeys, 12 from sheep and goats and 64 isolates from apparently healthy animals (15 isolates from cattle, 11 from horses and donkeys and 38 from sheep and goat). In addition to six isolates were isolated from poultry farms, 16 isolates were isolated from air and 7 isolates were isolated from soil surrounding the animals. |
