Abstract

Rayon acetate fibers have an important role in the electrical and textile industries. Some studies were used on rayon acetate fibers to improve its properties and provide useful quantitative data in industrial applications. The studies of the physical and optical properties of rayon acetate fibers throw light on the internal structure of its material. The main task of this study throws light on the changes of the optical properties and some structural properties of these fibers; due to exposure to UV radiation, used different wavelengths, mechanical and thermal treatment on these fibers. The Pluta polarizing interference microscope is being used for the determination of the refractive indices and birefringence of rayon acetate fibers. The obtained experimental results of the fiber’s refractive indices are utilized to study some structural properties and also after exposure to UV radiation, the mechanical and thermal treatment of these fibers.
