Abstract

Reading is a means of cultural sophistication, and the key of science and knowledge. It is a source of building the linguistic awareness of individual, and a tool to promote thought and behavior. Reading also is a window through which man can recognize Nations heritage, and then benefit from the experiences of others. It provide the individual with the needed information to solve lots of personal problems. Reading arouses curiosity and meditation in thinking and raises the level of understanding the social issues. Moreover reading performs some other important functions in the learner’s life to satisfy some needs, such as the need to communicate with others and participate them in their thoughts and feelings.
Reading literacy is the result of the reading activity, and it’s important for the individual’s cultural and intellectual growth, and in the interaction with the political and social events, besides its role in the formation of creators and thinkers.
Creative reading is the best reading types; as it is related to higher-level thinking and requires a high level of maturity and culture, and that learner has to connect what he reads with his preceding experiences, in order to reach a new relationship based on his ability to imagine and think, thus it affects the reader intellectually, culturally and socially. As the creative reading is a multi- stages process, it requires new teaching strategies to enable learner to think deeply into the readable text, add experience to what he reads, and give him the opportunity to stimulate new ideas, this could be achieved through the inquiry strategies that fit the nature of the secondary school students, as they tend to investigate and practice inquiry as a result of their curiosity and desire of discovering the unknown.
