Abstract Summary Women with urinary incontinence suffering from reduction in their QOL and various well being have been implicated to decrease it, including: activities of daily living, fatigue, sleep disturbances, restricted activities, pain, infections, and social isolation. The requirements and consequences of having a urinary incontince have an enormous impact on the patient’s social life. The loss of independence associated with functional decline can lead to changes in overall health and well-being, depression and a gradual reduction in daily routine. Aim of the Study The aim of this study is to assess the effect of urinary incontinence on women’s quality of life, through the following: 1. Assess the effect or urinary incontinence on physical health. 2. Assess the effect of urinary incontinence on psychological health. 3. Assess the effect of urinary incontinence on social health. 4. Assess the effect of urinary incontinence on spiritual health. Summary 151 Research question: The research question which is formulated to answer during this study is: 1. What are the effects of urinary incontinence on women QOL? 2. What are the correlations between well being that affect quality of life and degree of incontinence, income, age, education, complains, efforts? 3. What are the relations between total medical history and QOL? Subjects and Methods Subjects and methods for this study are portrayed under four main designs: 1-Technical design 2-Operational design. 3-Administrative design. 4-Statistical design. The technical design for the study included: Research design, setting of the study, subject’s sampling and tool for data collection. Summary 152 A-Research design The design of this study is a descriptive one to achieve the following aim: Assess the effect of urinary incontinence on women’s QOL through: 1. Assess the physical effect of urinary incontinence on women’s QOL. 2. Assess the psychological effect of urinary incontinence on women’s QOL. 3. Assess the social effect of urinary incontinence on women’s QOL. B-Setting: The study was conducted at the Gynecological urodynamic Unit of Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital and Ain Shams specialized hospital.
