Abstract
Rerractive errors are conditions in which collimated ligh produces image focus anterior to the retina of the non-accommodating eye as in myopia or incident parallel rays of light brought to afocus some distant behind the retina when the eye is at rest as in hypermetropia.
While Astigmatism is that condition of refraction wherein appoint of focus of light cannot be formed upon the retina caused by the unequal refraction of light in different meridians
In this study, we try to detect incidence of refractive error among school children as this conditions will cause visual impairment then retardation in the children education.
Children strabismus and amblyopia may occur due to uncorrected refractive error.
Although correction of refractive error easy,safe and effective ,many children are without the necessary spectacles.
Majority of the children had been never examined for visual acuity .it is strongly recommended that periodic screening for refractive errors should be carried out in school age children .parents and school teachers should participate properly in this expedition.
