Abstract

Complexes of VO2+, Cr3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+ ions with 4-allyl-1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-1-thiosemicarbazide (HANTSC) and N′-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-2-mercaptoacetohydrazide (H2NMAH) have been prepared. The structure of the ligands and their metal complexes were elucidated by means of elemental analyses, spectral (IR, UV-Visible, NMR and ESR), MS, thermal (TG) and magnetic measurements. Also, the thermal behavior using TGA and DTG showed the corresponding kinetic and thermodynamic parameters using Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger equations. Also, the molecular modelings using density functional theory (DFT) were drawn for the ligands and some of its metal complexes. The investigation of the biological activity of the ligands and some of its metal complexes on ABTS free radicle scavenging activity and antitumor activity using in vitro MTT assay, were included. Also, the stability constants calculations of the reaction between the synthesized ligand (H2NMAH) and Cu(II) and Ni(II) ions using Job’s method is included. The validity of Beer’s law for the Ni(II)-H2NMAH system was studied.
