Abstract

In this study the antigenic and genomic characterization was done for pigeon pox virus (PGPV) isolated from different region in Egypt .Neutrization test and The Indirect ELISA were applied on Serum samples collected from pigeons showing symptoms of pigeon pox and other symptom less pigeons using the PGPV (Hungarian strain) the result showing the presence of the specific antibody against PGPV with neutrization index (NI).The isolated virus give the characteristic pock lesion of the PGPV on CAM . For the antigenic characterization of the isolated ropagated virus SNT and double antibody sandwich ELISA were applied on the propagated isolated PGPV on CAM.For genetic characterization of the isolated Pigeon pox virus the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) was done for the extracted DNA from both crust sample and propagated isolated PPV on CAM by amplification of P4B gene using the specific forward and reverse primers result in the characteristic PCR positive bands of 570 bp extracted DNA. Sequence analysis on nucleotide and amino acid level were done for the amplified P4B gene showing that there is no difference between skin scrab sample, isolates on CAM and vaccinal strain and reported PGPV isolates in gene bank.
