Abstract

The hydraulic jump is a phenomenon well known to hydraulic engineers as a useful means of dissipating excess energy and achieves subcritical flow condition as the flow enters the downstream channel. So that a theoretical and experimental studies were done to study the hydraulic jump in horizontal circular open channel. Some new equations were obtained and become useful for engineers to use in the field. Also, the characteristics of the hydraulic jump in circular open channel are declared. The hydraulic jump occurred in horizontal circular open channel has been studied experimentally and theoretically. The experimental study was done using a laboratory flume with circular section. The theoretical study used the momentum equation as a governing equation of the hydraulic jump to get new forms special for applying on the hydraulic jump in circular sections. from this study it can be concluded that the study of hydraulic jump in circular open channel.
