The study aimed at identifying the impact of the internet in Assiut
University Libraries on political education among undergraduate students,
using the field research method, through relying on a checklist
administered to a sample of 32 managers of Assiut University libraries,
and a questionnaire administered to 541 male and female students at
Assiut University during the academic year 2013/2014. The study
consisted of an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion followed by
several appendices. The researcher has reached some results, the most
important of which are the following:
1. 40.7% of the study subjects use the internet at Assiut University
libraries, while 49.3% do not use it. The most important reasons for
using it were pursuing the scientific and literary sites associated with
their study and making use of them in scientific research (36.4%);
following up political news (27.3%); reading e-newspapers (20.5%);
social communication via the Facebook (13.6%); and finally
exchanging different cultures and views in various fields (2.2%).
