Abstract

Hepatitis C virus is a member of the Flaviviridae family of RNA-containing viruses. Thus, it is not integrated into the host genome. Although the liver is the primary target of infection, studies to better define the steps of hepatitis C virus infection are greatly hampered by the lack of a suitable animal model for such studies (the only animal known to be susceptible to hepatitis C virus is the chimpanzee). Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is one of 6 viruses (along with hepatitis A, B, D, E, and G viruses) that cause viral hepatitis. Prior to identification of the virus, it was termed non-A/non-B hepatitis to distinguish it from the viral causes of nonalcoholic hepatitis that were known at the time .The incubation period of hepatitis C infection averages 6 to 7 weeks, with a range of 2 weeks to 6 months.1 The clinical picture of disease in children is indistinguishable from hepatitis A- or B-associated disease. Most pediatric patients are asymptomatic. Symptomatic infections usually are mild and insidious in onset. Jaundice occurs in only 25% of patients, and elevations in alanine aminotransferase (ALT) generally are lower than those in hepatitis B virus infection. Plan of study The main aim of study is to improve live functional of children suffering from viral hepatitis through the use of certain dietary supplements, including groups (Mint- Sage- Hibiscus, Thyme and their Mixture). The results indicated that 1. Mint caused an increased in Albumin (mg/dl) and improves prothrombin (Time) (Sec) values post-treatment comparing with values pret-reatments. This increment due to the herbs treatments. 2. Mixture caused an increased in V.B12 (mg), prothrombin (INR) (100%).
