Abstract

According to the ancient Egyptian thought; laughing is a reaction to certain
stimuli, fundamentally stress, which serves as an emotional balancing mechanism.
Traditionally, it is considered a visual expression of happiness, or an inward feeling of joy. It may result from hearing a joke, being tickled, or other stimuli. It is in most cases avery pleasant sensation. Among the human species, it is a part of human behavior regulated by the brain, helping humans clarify their intentions in social interaction and providing an emotional context to conversations.
So, relief theory maintains that laughter is a homeostatic mechanism by which
psychological tension is reduced. Humor may thus for example serve to facilitate relief of the tension caused by one’s fears, Laugher and mirth, according to the relief theory, results from this release of the nervous energy. It refers also to the humor as it is used mainly to overcome sociocultural inhibitions and reveal suppressed desires.
So the definitions of humor and its theories clears that it is a normal thing that the ancient Egyptians use humor in their life, especially to express their ideas; concepts; and fears in an indirect way, by using humorous figures and caricature. They almost were the first people, who use humor scenes (sometimes with captions) and caricature to express their feelings.
