Abstract

The present study aimed to treat grammatical writing errors of a sample of second year of preparatory stage pupils through using an electronic program that was based on interactive multimedia. For that purpose, an interactive multimedia based program was constructed and validated. A checklist of the errors of grammatical writing errors, checklist of the skills and sub skills of grammatical writing skills, and a pre-posttest of grammatical writing skills were also designed. The participants were 80 second year preparatory stage pupils randomly selected from El-Masaay El-Gededah Preparatory School for girls, Shebin El Kom, Menoufia Governorate, in 2014-2015 academic year (40 experimental and 40 control). Both were pre-tested in using of grammatical rules and mechanism in writing. The experimental group received grammatical rules and writing mechanism by the researcher through using the interactive multimedia program, while the control group received regular instruction also by the researcher. After administrating the program, both groups were post tested using the grammatical writing test. Findings indicated that the interactive multimedia program was significant in treating the participants’ grammatical writing errors and developing grammatical writing skills. Based on these results, introducing interactive multimedia programs to be used in treating EFL grammatical writing errors and teaching grammar rules and writing mechanism at the preparatory stages was recommended.
