Abstract The present thesis includes preparation, characterization and studying the structural changes of two prepared systems. The first system concern: ”Influence of cesium chloride (CsCl) on structural, optical, thermal and electrical properties of the PVA/PEO blend” ” also the second system for: ”Effect of cesium bromide on the structural, optical, thermal and electrical properties of PVA/PEO blend” .These films have been prepared by casting technique, while different techniques had been used to investigate both systems: Experimental studies such as, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) for structural investigation , Ultraviolet and visible (UV/Vis.) spectroscopy for optical properties, Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for thermal properties, DC conductivity for electrical properties, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for surface morphology detections. All previously mentioned techniques suggest that CsCl improve the optical, thermal and electrical properties of polymer blend (PVA/PEO) more than CsBr. All the changes in the measured physical properties may be attributed to the electronegativity of Chlorine ions and the difference in interaction between polymer blend and CsCl or CsBr. |
