Emotional Intelligence began to assume a special and pivotal position in the field of psychology, where scientists considered it the effective factor in individual success and excellence in life. Individual who has skills of emotional intelligence could simply comply with himself. He would be responsible for decisions of his life that are sought. He should has the ability and know-how to make effective decisions so that it is more realistic in his assessment of the same and rapid up to solve the problem because it has the ability to analyze the strategies of the decision and to know the dimensions of the problem and thinking which is characterized by rationality and the ability to find quick solutions to the problems facing him.
Determining bases of study problem: The study problem could be determined in attempt to answer the following questions:
1- Is there a relationship between emotional intelligence and decision-making among a sample of preparatory schools headmasters?
2- Is there a relationship between emotional intelligence and some leadership styles among a sample of preparatory schools headmasters?
3- Is there a difference between male and female headmasters in the emotional intelligence?
4- Is there a difference between male and female headmasters in the decision-making?
5- Is there a difference between male and female headmasters in some of leadership patterns?
The importance of study: The importance of this study could be shown in:
First: The theoretical importance:
1-The importance of the study is found in the importance of the variables that dealt with, and the try to identify the relationship between ’emotional intelligence’ from one side and ’decision-making’ and ’leadership patterns’ from the other side at a sample of preparatory schools headmasters.
2-This study is considered one of the intra-studies which specialized as Administrative psychological, organizing attitude and cognitive psychology, which is what we need as researcher knows when we address a human study at any site of work and considering from multiple angles and perspectives.
Second: Applied Popularity:
1- The results of this study may contribute to the development of the foundations through which the adoption of sound formats to choose leaders and managers to fill management positions.
2- The results of this study could help to determine the features and characteristics of the members of the applicants for managerial and leadership positions.
Objectives of the study: The present study aims to identify:
1- Relationship between emotional intelligence and decision-making among a sample of preparatory schools headmasters.
2-The relationship between emotional intelligence and some leadership patterns among a sample of preparatory schools headmasters.
3- Differences between male and female headmasters in emotional intelligence.
4- Differences between male and female headmasters in the decision-making.
5- Differences between male and female headmasters in some leadership patterns.
The study hypotheses:
Referring to tv he theoretical framework and induction previous studies, researcher was able to formulate hypotheses of the study are as follows:
1- There is a significant statistical relationship between emotional intelligence and decision-making among a sample of preparatory schools headmasters.
2- There is a significant statistical relationship between emotional intelligence and some leadership patterns among a sample of preparatory schools headmasters.
3- There is a significant statistical difference between male and female headmasters in emotional intelligence
4- There is a significant statistical difference between male and female headmasters in decision-making.
5- There is a significant statistical difference between male and female headmasters in some leadership patterns.
The study sample
The current study sample consisted of (100) headmasters of preparatory schools, are divided intrfco (50 male, 50 female), were randomly selected from various preparatory schools in the province of Babylon - Iraq, the ages ranged between (40-60) years old.
Tools of the study:
A- Emotional intelligence scale (prepared by Palmer & Stough, 2006, Arabized by: El Dawy 2010).
B- Decision-making Scale (prepared by the researcher). C- leadership patterns Scale (prepared by the researcher).
Results of study:
1- There is a significant statistical relationship between emotional intelligence and decision making among a sample of preparatory schools headmasters in the province of Babylon – Iraq in the direction of headmasters.
2- There is a significant statistical relationship between emotional intelligence and some leadership patterns among a sample of preparatory schools headmasters in the province of Babylon – Iraq in the direction of headmasters.
3-There is a difference between male and female headmasters in the emotional intelligence in the direction of headmasters.
4-There is a difference between male and female headmasters in the decision-making in the direction headmasters.
5- There is a difference between male and female headmasters in some of leadership patterns in the direction of headmasters.
The proposed recommendations and research, First: Recommendations
1-focus on the development of educational leaders and attention to the development of their skills through training courses are even helping in the formation of a clear vision of what the educational practices
2- That works to support the orientation of teachers in the formation of true and clear vision for the educational work by taking into account individual differences in the distribution of activities and committees and the table and establish a successful social relations with them
Second: The proposed research
1- Leadership styles for school administrators and its relationship to decision-making
2-impact of emotional intelligence on job performance among a sample of managers in the private sector in Iraq.
