Abstract

Many studies have shown that cerasus has many health benefits which it contains antioxidants and mineral salts, which makes it possible to use it to improve the health status of many diseases, so this study was conducted to study the Effect of Prunus cerasus on biological, biochemical and histopathological changes of hepatic disorder and diabetic rats. Hepatic disorder and diabetic are the most dangerous and prevalent chronic diseases in the world. Fifty white male albino rats, weighing 160±10 g were used in the study. The rats were divided into 2 groups (diabetic groups and hebatic groups). Both 2 groups (diabetic groups and hebatic groups) contain 5 groups. Group 1 and group 2 used as negative and positive control groups. Group 3, 4 and 5 received aqueous Prunus cerasus juice, orally, in a dose of 2, 4 and 6 mg, respectively. At the end of experiment period (40 day), body weight, feed efficiency ratio, feed intake, relative organs weight (liver-lung-kidney-spleen-heart), glucose, serum liver function (GOT,GPT and ALP), total protein, albumin, globulin, TG,TC, LDL, HDL,VLDL, AI, kidney functions (uric acid, urea and creatinine), oxidant and antioxidant enzymes (MDA, SOD, GSH, CAT and GST) and hestopathological changes of liver and kidney have been evaluated to both diseases (hepatopathic and diabetes) The obtained results can be summarized as follows: First: Effect of Prunus cerasus juice on diabetic rats 1. Effect of Prunus cerasus juice on initial weight, final weight and BWG (g) of diabetic rats: As for initial weight, it could be noticed that the mean values of groups 3, 4 and 5 showed non significant difference when compared with positive control group. Also, it could be noticed that the mean value of negative control group showed a significant difference as compared with positive control group. Concerning the final weight, the results indicated that the mean value of final weight of positive control group was lower than negative control group. The mean value of groups 3,4and 5 showed a significant difference when compared with positive control group. Group (5) was recorded as the nearest mean value for negative control group (healthy rats group). As for BWG, it was clear that the body weight gain for positive control group was lower than negative control group. All treatments showed a significant increase when compared to positive control group. the best result was recorded for group 5. 2. Effect of Prunus cerasus juice on FI, FER and BWG (%) of diabetic rats: Concerning FI, the mean value of FI, FER and BWG (%) of positive control group was significantly lower than negative control group, also the mean value of groups 3, 4and 5 was significantly higher than positive control group. 3. Effect of Prunus cerasus juice on relative weight of lung, kidney, spleen, heart and liver weight of diabetic rats: The mean value of relative weight of lung, kidney, spleen, heart and liver of positive control group was significantly higher than negative control group, also the mean value of groups 4and 5 was significantly lower than positive control group. 4. Effect of Prunus cerasus juice on serum glucose level in diabetic experimental rats: The mean value of serum glucose level of positive control group was significantly higher than negative control group. Also, the mean values of G3, G4 and G5 indicated a significant decrease in serum glucose (mg/dl) when compared with positive control group. The best result was recorded from group (5).
5. Effect of Prunus cerasus juice on total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and atherogenic index (AI) of diabetic rats: Results recorded that the mean value of TC, TG and AI of positive control group was significantly higher than negative control group. All treatments showed a significant decrease when compared with positive control group. The best result was recorded for group (5)6. Effect of Prunus cerasus juice on high densty lipoprotein (HDL), low densty lipoprotein (LDL) and very low densty lipoprotein (VLDL) of diabetic rats: The results indicated that the mean value of HDL for positive control group was significantly lower than negative control group. The mean values of HDL for groups 4 and 5were higher than positive control group. The best result was recorded for group (5). As for LDL, VLDL-c results showed that the mean value of positive control group was significantly higher than negative control group. All hepatic rats fed on different levels of Prunus cerasus juice showed a significant decreases in mean values as compared to (+) control group. It could be noticed that the mean value of group 5 was significantly lower than positive control group. The best result was recorded for group (5).
7. Effect of Prunus cerasus juice on liver function of diabetic rats As for GPT, GOT and ALP (u/l) it could be noticed that the mean value of positive control group was significantly increased when compared to negative control group. The mean value of groups 4 and 5 was lower than that of positive control group and showed a significant difference as compared with positive control group. There was non significant difference between group 5and negative control group. 8. Effect of Prunus cerasus juice on kidney function of diabetic rats: Concerning uric Acid, Urea and Creatinine (mg/dl), data revealed that the mean value of positive control group was significantly higher than negative control group .The mean values of groups 3,4 and 5 indicated a significant decreased when compared with positive control group. the best results were recorded for group 4 and group 5.
