Abstract

A group of characteristic par~eters are defined and measured to describe the operation and performance of the Regenerative Frequency Divider circuit (RFD), under steady state and transient operating conditions. A new approach to the circuit ana~sis was found necessary to give satisfactory explanation of the circuit behaviour under different conditions of operation. This ana~sis led to the possibility of giving a design procedure with a systematic method for practical circuit adjustment. to construct and adjust a RED circuit with a predetermined design data The observed and measured statistical~ distributed delay time 1rs ’ appearing under sudden application of an input signal to the RFD circuit, put the use of RFD in freqency band compression systems in question. The randomness of the value of Ts ’ its recorded variations between micro seconds to few seconds, and its dependence upon both the input voltage and frequency, may exclude the RFD as a type of frequency dividers useful in band compression systems.
