Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the inclination of a sample of Egyptian children towards dentists’ different non-pharmacological behavior guidance techniques adopted by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Sample The sample consisted of a total of 200 children aged 6-12 years old from both governmental schools (indicating a low socioeconomic status) and international schools (indicating a high socioeconomic status). Material Videos of Behavior Guidance Techniques These were seven separate videos each demonstrating one of the following behavior guidance techniques: Tell-Show-Do, positive reinforcement, non-verbal communication, voice control, distraction, protective stabilization and parental presence/absence. Data Collection chart This chart provided demographic data of the children participating in the study. Behavior Guidance Techniques Rating chart This chart was used to rate each behavior guidance technique in accordance to its appropriateness in guiding the specific patient behavior |
