Abstract

In this thesis, various models of induction motors are presented; such as
three-phase model, stationary reference frame model, rotor reference frame
model, synchronously-rotating reference frame model, space-phasor model,
and stationary reference frame model expressed in per unit.
Phase-controlled induction motor is considered with a new method
presented to determine the extinction angle of the AC voltage controller
analytically.
Frequency-controlled induction motor is also considered including its
various methods of speed control such as constant (V/f) control, constant
slip-speed control, constant air-gap flux control, closed-loop constant (V/f)
speed control using PI controller, vector control (field-oriented control),
whether it is direct or indirect, and direct torque control.
Scalar control, indirect field-oriented control and direct torque control of
induction motors using fuzzy-logic controller are investigated.
In this thesis, the performance characteristics of the systems presented are
obtained using Matlab programming language and Matlab/Simulink
software package.
